AFM Safecoat Primecoat HPV New Wallboard is a premium quality, fast-curing, flat-finish primer that provides a superior prime coat over interior surfaces such as new gypsum wallboard and textured sheetrock. It equalizes the absorption rate of topcoat paints over a variety of surfaces with different porosities and helps to eliminate decorating problems over textured sheetrock and tape joints on the wallboard.

    Specifications

    Use OnNew gypsum wallboard and textured sheetrock. Not suitable for Greenboard. 
    LimitationsSafecoat primers are made without formaldehyde preservatives. Do not contaminate. Do not use when indoor temperature is below 55 degrees F. Do not freeze.
    Surface PreparationIdeal priming conditions include: dry surface, fresh air flow, 30-70% relative humidity, 55° to 85° F. Clean surfaces of dirt, grease, mildew and oil. Surface should be completely dry before application. 
    CoverageOne gallon covers approximately 300-400 based on surface porosity. 
    Application

    Stir well before use; then apply with brush, roller or airless sprayer. Always wear painters mask when spraying. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat to dry and cure more slowly. Spraying Instructions:  

     

    Reduce with up to 1/2 pint of water/gallon as needed.

    Airless sprayers should use 17/1000 to 21/1000 tip

    Reversible tips are best n Use only 30 mesh high pressure filters

    For best coverage, spray 18" from surface

    Overlap preceding coat with 1/4 to 1/2 the fan width

    Drying/Curing TimeFor best results wait a minimum of 4 hours before next coat. This product cures and bonds over a full 7 day period.
    Health PrecautionsAs with all coatings and sealers, keep container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not take internally. Always use adequate ventilation.
    Clean-upClean tools and equipment while they are still wet with a warm soapy water solution. Any unused primer should be stored in air tight container for reuse. Or, add kitty litter to solidify in the can or roll out on a piece of cardboard and leave to dry before disposing. Do not flush excess primer down the sink or toilet.
