Good Stuff

I like using this stuff - it's easy to apply, it looks good, and it doesn't take long for it to dry enough to walk on. Water beads up quite nicely on it. I will say it didn't cover nearly as much surface as I was expecting (maybe 125 square feet, though maybe it was just very absorbent pine). Also make sure you mix it up all the way to the bottom of the can because I didn't and that made the color different once I got to the bottom - oops. Anyway, I like this stuff and I'm glad something more eco-friendly exists.

Beautiful rich color

Looks just as good as oil-based, but much more environmental. We purchased the Golden cedar color and are very satisfied. It is also so much easier to apply than oil based stains.

We love the non-toxic aspect of this product. Easy to use. Provides great protection from sun and water for outdoor fencing. Color is nice.

Arrived quickly and exactly what I needed

I applied this to rough cut pine, which really sucked it up. Looks great but I'm needing more than anticipated to cover the area I'm working with so ordering more.

No smell!

No smell, and as soon as it dried I could bring the wooden pieces inside. Unlike other stains where even a week later I couldn't bring my crafts indoors. Will definitely purchase again. When used on cedar siding it is close to a natural/new cedar color but is a little darker. The raw cedar did absorb way more than I was expecting (when staining both sides prior to install I was getting 75sqf per gallon). I'm sure if you were just staining installed cedar siding you'd use much less.

Caspian Clear

My experience was beyong easy. Following the instructions, I scrubbed my deck free of the buildup of molding and mildew. Let it dry for several sunny days, then began the application of "Caspian Clear' from Vermont Coatings.
The second coat was applied while the first was still wet. The deck dried without oder to me or in the wind or air. Several sunny days followed and the completely dry, transparent sealant was done. I love the fact that I am preserving my investment oft the cedar deck with your product. Sincerely, Constance K. Escher, Historian

Happy with stain for porch/deck

The stain worked out great on my porch/deck. I applied it with a brush, which required a lot of effort, but the results were worth it. Applying the second coat before the 1st coat dried was challenging, as it seemed to dry quickly, particularly on warmer days. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Raised Beds

I did a review yesterday with this same title but never received a coupon. Please see the previous review, but it was a great product and I plan to order more of it.

Great stain

We are using the lakeside cedar color to stain our grape arbor and fence. Because we have a garden, it’s important to have nontoxic materials. This color looks beautiful in our backyard and we hope it protects our wood for years to come.

Raised Beds

I used the acorn brown stain to stain the outside and top of my raised garden beds. It did a great job, but I do think the 2nd coat needs to be applied much sooner then what the label indicates. The raised beds I stained were older, so maybe this isn't common, but by the time I finished staining one side of the raised bed, I had to go back to apply the second coat. When I tried to stain 2 sides before applying the second coat, it had already started to dry and was making the second coat of stain bead up. So just be aware of how quickly the stain gets absorbed on your specific project, and don't go off the staining timeframe on the label.

Great stain!

Loved finding a green product that looks great! Never had a stain that cleans up so easily.

Great deck stain

Our handyman had used other stains that were high VOC, and it was important to get a product that was more ecological. This was easy to use, and we're satisfied with the results. The color is more brown than cherry, but that goes with the cabin.

Caspian Clear Polywhey Vermont Natural Coatings, Penetrating Wood Stain

Loved everything about this product, from ease of application with a four inch brush, with no odor, and drying within the stated time, to the results! My deck now has cedar boards which bead with water after rains, and maintain the look and integrity of the wood they were made of (sorry about the grammar in that sentence.)

Refinishing older cedar siding

I was fairly skeptical at first and did a large test area on the back of my house. I allowed it to sit for a month. Still looks the same. I did a few hose tests and tried scuffing it and it held up well. The product itself has barely any odor and dries quickly. I’m not sure it actually needs 2 coats though. I did two test areas and the test area with only 1 coating looks better.

Perfect and beautiful exterior stain to work with

We are using this product to stain the brise soleil structure we have built for our backyard patio. It has been a dream to stain with this product and the finish is beautiful. The wood grain shows through the gorgeous and rich charcoal gray color. Very happy with the product and could not have asked for more. The structure is west facing in harsh Texas sun, hopefully it stands up to the conditions in the long term. Time will tell.

Excellent stain for cedar fencing

Purchased the 5 gallon container of PolyWhey Clear Stain and applied to 1000 ft. of 8 ft. high cedar fencing using a 1 gallon sprayer, followed by a brush to distribute any drips. Easy and quick to apply and brought out natural cedar color. Easy to spray on lattice sections. No issue with odor and cleans up without difficulty. Will definitely use the PolyWhey Stains again. Does require more to cover roughened areas of wood.

Perfect For Our Deck

Coverage estimate was accurate. Went on easy, cured in 48 hours, repels water and looks great. Zero VOCs, what more can you ask for? Recommended!

Purchased for use with new cedar and existing fir decks - A+ on both

I’ve been looking for a good performing stain to use on about 500 sq feet of new and existing decking. I’ll keep it brief:
Final product looks great
Excellent adherence
Stain is more opaque than expected after 2nd required coat - not transparent at all
Applies very well
Zero odor
Great shipping

I think it’s worth the price, it feels like it will last many years

I’ll buy this again.

Easy to use and this product left a nice finish on the deck. It’s nice to know it is a safe product for our us, our grandchildren and our dog.
